Isuru Udana Retirement: Sri Lanka’s leading all-rounder Isuru Udana has surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from international cricket. Isuru announced to leave international cricket with immediate effect. The whole cricketing world is shocked by his decision. Announcing his retirement, Isuru said, “I think the time has come to make room for the next generation of players. I have represented and served Sri Lanka cricket with a lot of pride, passion and incredible commitment.”
Isuru Udana was also part of the Sri Lankan team in the recently concluded 3-match ODI and T20I series between India and Sri Lanka. India had named the ODI series in this tour, while the T20 series was in the name of Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana’s performance in this series between India and Sri Lanka was not special.
He got to play the first match in the ODI series where he scored just eight runs while batting, after which he spent 27 runs in two overs in the bowling. At the same time, he was a part of the Sri Lankan team in two matches of the T20 series, but in both these matches he could not manage to take a single wicket.
The 33-year-old Sri Lankan all-rounder made his T20 International debut against Australia in the 2009 T20 World Cup. Udana made his ODI debut for Sri Lanka in 2012. In the last few years, Udana has performed brilliantly in his bowling. He trapped big batsmen in his net with his cutter and slower balls. For Sri Lanka, he took part in a total of 21 ODIs and 35 T20 matches, during which he took 18 wickets in ODIs and 27 wickets in T20Is.

Isuru Udana has also been a part of IPL. He has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, he has played 10 matches for Bangalore in which he took 8 wickets. The Sri Lankan all-rounder was bought by RCB for Rs 50 lakh.
