Tokyo Olympics: The Indian Olympic Association has announced a reward for the medal winning athletes. A day before the start of the Olympics, the Indian Olympic Association has announced a grant of Rs 75 lakh to the gold medal winners. Apart from this, 40 lakhs will be given to the silver medal winning athletes and 25 lakhs will be given to the bronze medal winners.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced that it will give a cash prize of Rs 75 lakh to the Tokyo Olympic Games gold medalist. Apart from this, each participant will give Rs 25 lakh as bonus to the National Sports Federation (NSF). The IOA’s advisory committee has announced a grant of Rs 40 lakh to the silver medalists and Rs 25 lakh to the bronze medalists.
“It also recommends giving one lakh rupees to each player representing the country in the Tokyo Olympic Games,” the IOA said in a statement. The IOA has also accepted the committee’s decision to give an additional contribution of Rs 25 lakh to each participating NSF and Rs 30 lakh to the medal winning NSFs.

Apart from this, each of the other national sports federations will get a support of Rs 15 lakh. IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta said, “For the first time, IOA is going to reward medal winners and their NSFs.” The advisory committee has also recommended an allowance of $50 per day for each member of the Indian contingent during their stay in Tokyo. The IOA also said that each of the member state Olympic associations would be given Rs 15 lakh to develop the basic sports infrastructure in the state and connect more sportspersons to the Games.
