England opener Haseeb Hameed has returned to the Test team after five years. Hameed has been selected for the five-Test series against India. Hameed has celebrated his return to the national team only after scoring a century in the practice match against India. Hameed scored 112 runs in 246 balls in a three-day practice match for County Select XI.
Thanks to Hameed’s century, County Select XI looks to be in a respectable position till the end of the second day’s play. County Select XI lost four wickets for 56 runs. Hameed added 75 runs for the fifth wicket with Lyndon James (27). Hameed’s innings included 13 fours.
Hameed first came to the discussion when the England team was touring India in 2016. At the age of 19, Hameed got a chance to debut for England. Hameed impressed everyone by scoring a half-century in his debut Test itself.

But Hameed got injured after playing three matches on the same tour. Meanwhile, form in domestic cricket also left Hameed’s side and he started being ignored for the England team. But this year Hameed has been in good form in county cricket and that is why he has returned to the England team after a long gap of five years.
Talking about the practice match, till the end of the second day’s play, India seems to be in a strong position. In response to India’s 311 runs in the first innings, County Select XI has scored 220 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. County Select XI are 91 runs behind India on the basis of first innings.
India’s bowlers are seen in excellent form in the practice match. Umesh Yadav has taken three wickets so far. Mohammad Siraj has also taken two wickets while bowling well, while Bumrah has one wicket in his account.
