Canara Bank on Friday said that the IFSC code of all branches of the old Syndicate Bank will change with effect from July 1, 2021. After this change, customers of Syndicate Bank will have to use the new IFSC Code of Canara Bank for accepting funds through NEFT/RTGS/IMPS.

  • Canara Bank has said that customers can check the new IFSC code through the URL
  • Customers can also check the new IFSC Code of their bank branch through the Canara Bank website.
  • Customers can also check IFSC code by visiting their bank branch.

Syndicate Bank customers will get new check book

Canara Bank says that old Syndicate Bank customers will get new checkbook. This checkbook will have the new IFSC and MICR code. Canara Bank says that the SWIFT code (SYNBINBBXXX) of Syndicate Bank will also change with effect from July 1, 2021. After this all the customers can use the new SWIFT code for foreign exchange (CNRBINBBFD).

Syndicate-Canara Bank merger took place on 1st April 2020

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the merger of Syndicate Bank with Canara Bank in 2019. This merger has come into effect from 1 April 2020. After this merger, Canara Bank has become the fourth largest public sector bank in the country.

4032 branches merged with Canara Bank

At the time of merger, the total business of Canara Bank was Rs 10.43 lakh crore and that of Syndicate Bank was Rs 4.77 lakh crore. While the number of employees was 58,350 and 31,535 respectively. At the time of merger, Syndicate Bank had 4032 branches across the country, which have merged with Canara Bank.

  • Indian Bank in Allahabad Bank.
  • Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank in Punjab National Bank.
  • Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank with Union Bank of India.
