Colombo: Former Sri Lankan veteran fast bowler Chaminda Vaas resigned from the post of fast bowling coach of the national team on Monday due to a salary dispute with the country’s cricket board. He was appointed to this post only three days ago. Vaas resigned just before the team left for the West Indies tour.

We could not agree on its terms – Sri Lanka Cricket Board

A senior official of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said, “We could not agree on his terms so he resigned.” The SLC said in a statement, “It is disappointing that the way the world over In view of the economic climate, Vaas took sudden and such irresponsible steps on the eve of the team’s departure for personal financial gain. ”

Recently, after the team’s poor performances against South Africa and England, Vas was appointed as Sri Lanka’s fast bowling coach in place of David Secker of Australia last week.

Vaas was to leave for West Indies tomorrow

Vaas was scheduled to leave for the West Indies with the team on Monday for a series of three Tests, besides a series of three T20 and three ODIs. A board official said that Vass, who was among the top fast bowlers in the country, has also resigned as the coach of SLC Academy.
