New Delhi: Spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, a veteran of his era, underwent bypass surgery in a city hospital a few days ago and is now recuperating.
According to a person close to the former Indian captain, 74-year-old Bedi underwent an operation two-three days ago and will be discharged from the hospital soon. He said, “As far as I know he had some cardiac problems and underwent bypass surgery two-three days ago on the advice of doctors”.
Can be discharged from hospital soon
He said, “He is fine now and is recovering after surgery. He is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon. ”Bedi, a left-arm spinner, participated in 67 Tests and 10 ODIs for India and took 266 and seven wickets respectively.
In December last year, he came into the limelight for opposing the decision of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to name the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium after former Union Minister Arun Jaitley. He had threatened to take legal action against DDCA in the event of not removing his name from the stadium’s spectator gallery.
